Progress Pictures Help
Fotki is the best place to share your hair progress because its free and simple.
Im really not going to stress how important it is to take progress pictures.
Do NOT Take Progress pictures often or you will become paranoid about growth.
I recommend taking them every 3 to 4 months or every new relaxer
I Recommend eighter taking them when hair is wet or flat irioned.
For Me It Is very New Relaxer .....so about 2 or 3 times a year.
I Really Dont Use Tape Or A T-Shirt to measure. I Just pretty much look and see the diffrence.
Also If You Meause Really Rarely You Will notice more of a diffrence.

Product Junkies
In my opinion products are overated.
Many people belive that they need 1,000s of products to have healthy hair.
I may not have super long hair but my hair is healthy.
Have you ever heard the saying...to much of a good thing can be a bad thing?
This applies for hair. It can clog your pores and prevent hair growth.
If use just enough products than your hair will be fine.
Just because products work with someone on youtube with long hair dosent mean that you should rush and buy it.
Trust Me I Bout Many Products that didnt work for me...and some that have. So dont become a product junkie unless you really have a good reason.

Hair Stages
Growing Phase
The growing phase is the longest phase of the cycles of hair growth. It is also the one that most of your hair is going through at one time. Typically, about 90% of your hair is in this phase.
This phase can somewhat determine the longest length that your hair can grow. The average growing phase is between 3 and 7 years. Most hair grows an average of .5 inches every month. That means it is ultimately possible to grow one hair from 18-42 inches. Of course, this would mean you haven't had any breakage or needed any trimming! The growing phase is probably the phase you're most interested in but it is also important to learn more about the resting phase.
Resting Phase
The resting phase is the 2nd part in the cycle of hair growth. It is during this phase that the hair is not growing but the hair is still contained in the follicle.
Luckily, this phase is pretty short - lasting only 2-4 weeks. About 4% of all your hair is in this phase at one time. Hair growth is not occurring at this time while the hair rests until it is ready to shed.
Shedding Phase
I'm sure you all have heard that it's normal for hair to shed about 50-100 hairs per day. That exactly right!
After the hairs are finished resting, they get pushed out of the hair follicle. It may not immediately fall from your head until you later brush or comb your hair. While brushing or combing, those hairs that no longer have a root are coming out as shedding. Only about 2% of your is going through this phase at one time.
Shedding is something that tends to worry people. I ask you to think about how often you brush or comb your hair daily. You may get a lot of shed hairs at once if you only brush or comb once a day.
I hope that I have given you a broad overview of the cycles of hair growth. This isn't meant to be a science lesson so if you are looking for a little more than I provided here, check out some books at your local library on the topic.
As you now know, the cycles of hair growth are growing, resting, and shedding. Remember that all of your hair is in one cycle or the other at any given time and it's all perfectly normal!
Guess What...!!!!!!!
Im Thinking About Trying ApHogee's Products To See How They Work.!........This is going to be a little bit $$$$$ but it cst to be beautiful....I Buy most of my products from...AMAZON...With My Reloadable Visa Card.
Shea Butter....For Hair?
Shea Butter....For Hair?
Why use shea butter for hair care?
As it is full of minerals, vitamins, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties, shea butter's benefits for hair are many. Its anti-inflammatory properties heal damaged scalp and help clear any infections. It works well against dandruff too. It can do wonders for hair that has been damaged by excessive coloring and blow-drying. It also helps to de-stress hair that has been affected for too long by pollution. Damaged and brittle hair can be conditioned and revitalized by its moisturizing properties. It soothes and softens dry hair. As shea butter is light and non-greasy, it can also be applied as a leave-in for hair. This will help to shield hair by locking or concealing the moisture in. Besides being great for dry hair, it helps to nourish normal hair and it's non-greasy, easy spread property helps to control excess moisture in oily hair. Using shea butter for hair growth is not unknown, due to its rejuvenating minerals and vitamins.
How to you use shea butter for hair?
Shea butter is the mainstay for many cosmetic products, either as one of the ingredients or as the main one. People, good in making essential oils can make whipped shea butter, a natural moisturizer to suit individual hair and scalp requirement, using a dose of shea butter and some natural oils. For those who want to use shea butter without too many combinations, make sure you get the raw or unrefined one. For a dry scalp, massage a coin sized amount of shea butter on scalp and in damp hair, after shampooing it. It is recommended to do it on a clean scalp. Wrap hair with a warm towel for 15 minutes. Remove towel, hand comb first, and then style as desired. This treatment will revitalize hair. For normal to greasy hair, take one part melted shea butter and mix it with a quarter part of extra virgin olive oil and stir thoroughly. Pour the content into a jar, and massage in scalp and hair, at least six hours before shampooing hair. One can add 5ml of shea butter into a 50ml shampoo bottle, to get its moisturizing goodness every time you shampoo hair.
Shea butter is expensive in its true, original form, so don't get misguided into purchasing one that is not the real thing. While buying shea butter products, make sure you pick them up from a reputed brand. It is advisable to buy shea butter in small quantities; this way one won't have to worry about it getting stale or rancid. Use shea butter for hair regularly, and watch that crown sparkle and shine.

Fall Is Here!
Fall season is the perfect time to correct the damage from summer and prepare the hair for the winter months ahead... Things like UV rays, chlorine etc can cause damage to your hair during the summer...
Correct damage from summer
Get a trim or if hair is really damaged from all the summer fun get a cut if instead and start over ...
During the summer you lose protein from your hair because of the sun and chlorine or salt water...Replace the lost protein...Do a protein treatment or my favorite Chi Keratin Spray w/ your leave in ( or Ahoghee green tea spray) after a few washes
Start deep conditioning w/ a moisturizing conditioner 1x a week... Getting hair properly moisturized now will help your tresses stay healthy during to winter months ahead
Did you know that studies show that most shed more hair during the fall ?? I guess we are like the trees... So don't panic if you are experiencing shedding during this time..Its normal.... Prepooing with Coconut Oil will help slow hair fall during this season..

Protective Style
So what is a protective style? The clue’s in the title! It is simply a style that protects your hair, specifically the ends from all the breakage causing dangers we face every day. The point of them is to keep the moisture in your strands where it belongs by keeping the ends intact.
Believe it or not, if your hair is about shoulder length, this is the period that it is most vulnerable to breakage. When your locks are constantly brushing against your shoulders, friction will do it’s nasty work and the clothes you are wearing, particularly cotton will sap the moisture from your ends and make them more prone to breakage. Enter the protective style, the saviour that will help you through from shoulder length to arm pit length and beyond.
It stands to reason that if your ends are hidden then they cannot break right? So the long and short of it is that protective styling helps you retain length by keeping your ends intact. For example, twists and braids even at shoulder length would be considered protective styles as the ends are intact hence less prone to breakage.
Whether your hair is shoulder length or longer, it’s wise to actually comprehend the purpose of protective styling. It is simply a means to keep your ends intact and not a way to wear your hair every day until the end of time. A bun worn daily may protect your ends but can play havoc with your hairline especially if worn tight. Ask yourself, what is the point of having long hair if you can’t enjoy it sometimes? Go on, show off your length and enjoy the fruits of your labour!

My Protective Style Of Choice:
5 Tips For A Healthy Crown In Glory.
1.Start using all natural hair care products that are loaded with essential fatty acids.Make Sure That The Products are filled with essential fatty acids, Omega 3, Omega 6, and great natural oils like jojoba, olive, safflower oil, sunflower oil, and wheat germ. These help Restore Dry And Damaged Hair.
2.Start eating a diet that is rich is essential fatty acids. The main components of all fats are the fatty acids which might be saturated, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. Saturated and monounsaturated fats are not necessary in the diet as they can be made in the human body. However, two polyunsaturated fatty acids that cannot be made in the body, that are critical to growing African American hair beyond the neck line, are linoleic acid, in the Omega 3 family; and alpha-linolenic acid, in the Omega 6 family. To get Omega 3 and 6, they must be in your diet.
3.Keep your hair moisturized. Shampoo and condition your hair more often, using only quality products. I seen and smelled the horror of what washing one's hair once a month can do. I Usually Wash me Hair Once A Week. Or Co-Wash One Week And Wash It The Next.Depending on how thick your hair is, once a month washings can to scalp irritations and poor circulation. Unwashed hair can also be a breeding paradise for lice, bugs, and other creatures that land on your hair and lay eggs without you knowing. After you wash you hair, always follow up with a quality hair lotion.
4.Begin giving yourself home hot oil treatments. There Are Many Essential Oils. I Normally Use Vitamin E Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil And/Or Tee Tree Oil.
5.Treat your Crown In Glory with love. Keep your hair in less stressful styles that require less pulling. Limit the amount of heat. An If You Are Relaxed(Like Myself) PPPLLLEEAAASSEEE....Stretch. I Usually Get A Relaxer Every 6 Months..Maybe Longer.
